Who we are
Fraser Coast Adventures is an independent travel information website. We research and compare Fraser Island (K'gari) 4WD tag-along tours and Hervey Bay whale watching experiences, and earn a commission when you book through links to Viator. We are not a travel agent and we do not sell tours directly.

What personal information we collect
We collect the minimum information necessary to operate this site and understand how visitors use it.
Information you give us
- If you contact us by email, we collect your email address and the content of your message. We use this only to respond to your enquiry.
- We do not operate a newsletter, subscriber list, or user account system. We do not collect names, addresses, phone numbers, or payment information.
Information collected automatically
When you visit this site, we use Google Analytics to collect anonymous information about how you use the site — including:
- Pages you visit and time spent on each page
- Referring website or search engine
- Browser type and version
- Device type (desktop or mobile)
- Approximate geographic location (country/region level, not precise)
- IP address
This data is anonymous and aggregated. It does not identify you personally and cannot be linked back to you without additional information we do not hold.
Cookies
This site uses cookies to understand site usage and improve performance.
What is a cookie? A small text file stored in your browser that helps a website remember your preferences and understand how you use the site.
Types of cookies we use
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics): These help us understand how visitors use our site so we can improve content and structure. They do not collect personally identifiable information. These cookies are set by Google, which means your data may be processed on servers in the United States.
- Site functionality cookies: These are minimal and relate to how the site displays and behaves in your browser. They do not contain advertising or tracking code.
Managing cookies
Most web browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through your browser settings. This may affect some site functionality. For more information, visit allaboutcookies.org.
Affiliate links and commissions
We are a participant in the Viator affiliate program. When you click a link to a tour on Viator and subsequently make a booking, we earn a commission (a percentage of the booking value). This commission is paid by Viator, not by you, and the price you pay is the same whether you use our link or go directly to Viator.
We do not share your personal information with Viator or any other third party simply because you clicked an affiliate link. Viator's own privacy policy applies to any booking you make on their platform — we encourage you to read it at viator.com/privacy-policy.
Overseas data transfers
Google Analytics processes data on servers located outside Australia, including in the United States. By using this site, you consent to your anonymous data being processed by Google in accordance with Google's privacy practices. Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and comparable arrangements, which provide adequate protection for personal data transferred internationally.
How long we keep information
We do not retain personal information longer than necessary. Contact emails are deleted after 12 months if no response has been received or a conversation has concluded. Analytics data is aggregated and retained in anonymous form for up to 26 months.
Your rights under Australian Privacy Law
Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:
- Request access to personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information
- Complain if you believe we have handled your personal information contrary to the Australian Privacy Principles
To make a request, contact us at hello@frasercoastadventures.com. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
